My name is Samantha Laird. I really like to sleep and I wish I could be sleeping still right now. This semester I have my own room which is absolutely AWESOME!! It is my own little world, no distractions. Just me and my two filled closets (the best part of my room). ūüôā My room at home is yellow and this one is white, its real boring. My room at school is a lot bigger than my room at home, which is not cool. My boyfriend is coming to stay with me this weekend which I am really excited about. He goes to Western and plays lacrosse. He lives in Brighton, which is the city right next to Hartland, my city. I work at Chili’s in Brighton and I love it there. I buy a lot of clothes and its a problem. But I’m alright with it. I swam in high school and played soccer one year. I wish we had a pool here but we are in Detroit… YMCA will do for now. My brother and sister play football, basketball, lacrosse and swim/dive, lacrosse,¬†respectively. My birthday is February 4th and I am kind of excited for it. Canada is just a ten minute drive away.. located very conveniently for my current city status. I share a birthday is Rosa Parks. The day after my birthday I am going to the Rascal Flatts concert. I love country music. This will be my second time seeing this awesome country group. My two best friends Britt and Marisa are going with me. After the concert we are going up to West Branch where my family will be for the weekend with a bunch of friends. ūüôā It should be a fun and exciting birthday weekend!

I am currently the happiest person. And I have been for quite some time. Its great, you should try it. ūüėÄ

About Me

I am a student at UDM who is happy with her new life as a college student. For many years my goal was to graduate form highshool and attend the same college  my parents attended. However, faced many challages when I enrolled. The first time I applied, I was turned down due to my low ACT scores. I was dissappointed, upset. I did not understand why my application has been denied since my grades were nothorrible. Throughout highschool, I was an honoroll student who was well rounded. At first  I decided that I was going to enroll into community college and then transfer to UDM. However, discovered later on that  my issues could be resolved if I took the ACT test over again. So after taking the test again I recived a higer score and was granted admissions into the school of Liberal Arts.  I was very exited about my acceptance, until orientation. For orientation, I was required to take a written and math placement test.  The morning I was scheduled to take the test was hetic. Iwas feeling excited but nervous. During the first two hours of orientation I began to feel a little more relaxed. There was brunch going on in the student lounge and I was foucusing on calming my nerves. After a while, I started socializing with some of my future classmates. Two hours later, It was time for me to take the placement test. As I walked towards the classroom where the test was administered, my nerves began to get the best of me. Throughout the test I could not concentrate. I continued to  focus more on time than completing the test. Unfortunately,  I was able to regain focus after ten minutes and was able to complete the test.  However, was still dissapointed afterwards when I discovered that I did not do so well on  math portion of the test.  DMMullen

Hey Everyone! My name is Nayeli. I am 18 yrs old and a freshman here at UDM. I am majoring in Political Science and going for a minor in Psychology.I come from a very large Mexican family. We are very close and I love spending time with them. I love doing things outdoors and just staying active. My favorite color is yellow. I love Mexican food– considering the fact that it¬†is all I ever eat because it is all my Mom ever makes. I know it might sound weird because I’m 18, but I¬†have ALMOST everything you can possibly think of that is Hello Kitty (but it’s not like some creepy obsession, I just think¬†it’s super¬†cute :-)). I used to have really long hair. I just recently cut it and now I can’t stop! It just keeps getting shorter. I love my name and the fact that no one else has it.

Well, that’s about it for now. ūüôā

Well well, where to start. Obviously this is an intro, so¬†I should, of course, introduce myself.¬† So…

Hello! My name is Alexandra Borkowski. You can call me Alex, Allie, Kat, Hey You, Chick, or nothing at all. It really doesn’t matter much to me. I’m nineteen, go to U of D, blah blah blah.¬†I’m pretty sure we all get the point. The general stuff is never any fun to read, so lets see if I can’t come up with anything a little more interesting than the usual¬†“I like pina coladas and getting caught in the rain”.

Not sure if anyone even remembers where thats from, but I guess we’ll see.

Anyway, think of your stereotypical nerd, and thats¬†me in a nut shell. I’m a little more outgoing than the rest of them, but I’m still just as socially akward, or akweird, whichever.¬† I love books, any kind, fiction, non fiction, you name it. And lots of other nerdy stuff, but I don’t need to scare you guys just yet. I mean, it is only the first post, I think I’ll wait till at least the third or fourth before I leave you all cringing. =]

I have three tattoos, plan on getting more. other than the one on the back of my neck, I never plan on having any that you can actually see, unless I’m in a bathing suit or something. i think tattoos are something that a) should always have a meaning behind them and b) are a very private, intamate part of someones life. But then again, thats just what I think. Not that I don’t like thigh to shoulder vines and flowers and stars and tons of pretty stuff, it’s just not my thing.

Facebook me, text me, IM me. I always love to talk. I’m sparadic, and thats the way I plan my nights. As to say, I don’t. I love just driving around with my friends until I see something that I wanna do. Take last friday for example. My cousin Matt, best friend Dustin and I decided to have pizza in the middle of my High School Football field at Two a.m.¬† it was cold, but tones of fun. Only, I don’t suggest trying to climb a fence with a pizza in your hand. pretty tricky if I do say so myself. My taste in music is pretty sparadic too. Put my Ipod on shuffle, and you’ll get the most crazy mix of songs ever. I think I’ll include some in my posts from now on. Like, whatever I’m listening to while I write I’ll post. Sounds fun, right?

Anyway, I’m getting pretty tired of talking, and I’m sure you are tired of half reading and falling aslepp through my intro. So I’ll stop ranting now. =] See ya!

Second Go- Lights.

Hola Everyone! =]

¬†I’m Lori Allan – a Freshmen here at the University of Detroit Mercy!

¬†I came¬†here to fulfill my passion¬†–> Architecture. I stay here on campus in Shiple Hall waaaaay up on the 7th floor with my awesome roomate. How ironic is it that 2 Valedictorians get placed in the same room? In the summer,¬† I took the stairs as much as possible. 84 stairs to be exact. (Yes, I counted!) So in about a year, I figured I‚Äôd be very fit for the track team if I ever decided to join.

I am from Detroit and I think it’s a lovely city! I love walking along the river Downtown. It’s really pretty day or night. I am the 3rd oldest of 6. 3 girls.. 3 boys. They’re the best. I am a mix of black, white and West Indian. (Jamaican) Yeah, Mon’

I listen to a lot of different types of music genres. Is it weird I listen to a few Christmas songs here-and-there in the summer? Ha ha ha. Writing is one of my favorite things to do. I am a reporter and writer for the Varsity News. I also work for the admissions office and it is my job to blog about what I do around campus or about UDM for perspective students. (www.blogs.udmercy.edu)

This previous summer and the summer before, I worked at Dairy Queen which was the best! I started collecting quotes a couple years ago so I can relate a quote to any situation. I just finished my 4th quote book yesterday. I love to laugh so the quote for today will be:

“The most wasted day is one in which you have not laughed.” -Unknown

I stay pretty busy here. I have class from 2-6 everyday including a couple classes in the morning. I see a new face on campus everyday when I’m in the library or the Titan Dining Room which is pretty refreshing. Plus, there’s always an event that allows you to interact with the students and staff here.

P.S. The title of this post are my initials but sounded out (if that makes sense) L = Elle and A = Ay

My name is Kevin Cunningham. I am from a small town called Romeo, Michigan, located 32 miles North of Detroit. I used to play a lot of sports such as soccer, lacrosse, and wrestling, however I don’t in college. My favorite color is green and I love vegtables. I am a freshman attending the University of Detroit Mercy. My college major is mursing, but i plan to become a nurse anesitists. Most of the freshman at UDM live in Shiple Hall but I live in Holden Hall where all the international students live. I actually like Holden Hall because I get to meet people from all over the world such as Poland, China, Iraq, Korea, and Germany. The things I’ve learned from these cultures is priceless and very cool. I can put a price on my education because it is costing me an arm and a leg. In order to pay for my college tutition and housing I work as a foreman during the summers. Last summer I held three landscaping jobs and worked before the sun rised, till the sun set. I became an apprentice for a irragation service company. We install everything from sprinklers to gulf courses. My other jobs include similiar work but it could be defined as landscaping.¬† I also have two brothers and one sister. My sister is the oldest and lives in Portland, while my oldest brother goes to school at Michigan Tech. I love my family very much although it is very disfuntional, but I prefer it that way because it gave me more of a reason to move out. I am a very chill kid that never wastes enery on stuff that is totally out of my control, especially drama. I am very big on always doing the right thing and I apply this moral to every aspect of my life. I wouldn’t say I am the best Catholic but I strive to be the best person I can be.
